The 4Ocean Bracelet and the issue of overfishing Posted on 1 Aug 10:40

This August, 4Ocean have released a red 4Ocean Bracelet to raise awareness of overfishing as well as pull a pound of trash from the ocean and the coastlines. This bracelet is released in connection with SeaLegacy whose mission is to create healthy and abundant oceans, for us and for the planet.

The issue of overfishing is one of particular importance to the UK. Currently, most of our fish stock is in an unhealthy state while some are in a severely depleted critical condition. However, if we stopped overfishing we could see fish catches increase by 87% in waters around the UK and Ireland. That research show that 200,000 tonnes more cod, sole, plaice and other fish within 5-7 years of stopping overfishing. Details of this can be read here: Stopping overfishing could see fish catches up 87% in waters around UK and Ireland.

If you would like to support this and raise awareness of the issue, the you can buy a 4Ocean bracelet and help clean-up the ocean and the coastline: 4Ocean Overfishing Red Bracelet
