everything's gone green Posted on 21 Oct 10:00

This month Glasgow is hosting the COP26 Summit on Climate Change - a momentous occasion for both the host city and the planet’s future. It's also a big deal for Edinburgh and Scotland, with the capital hosting many of the delegations and also being used for pre-conference summits and workshops.
For the climate to remain within a safe range, emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 (compared to 2010) and from there to net zero emissions by 2050. This is no small feat - over 25,000 people from all over the globe are expected to attend the summit - cooperation will be vital in securing our planet’s future. That begins with the decisions we make ourselves as conscious consumers.

While we don’t hold quite as much sway as COP26, here at Paper Tiger we are also taking strides towards our eco goals. More and more of our card selection comes without plastic wrap, our own brand Paper Tiger notebooks are made from recycled materials, and our website is now carbon neutral! We love finding eco-friendly brands making great products and doing good work - so here are a few of our favourites!

One of our go-to gift suggestions for anyone looking for eco-friendly presents are the fantastic 4Ocean bracelets. These bracelets are made from recycled materials and every bracelet bought funds the removal of one pound of plastic waste from the ocean and coastlines. Available in both the classic beaded version and the newer braided look, you can go for the signature blue, or try a cause-specific bracelet to support conservation efforts for your favourite sea creature - be it jellyfish, sea turtle, or shark.

If you’re looking to reduce your own plastic use, 4Ocean have also released these nifty reusable water bottles - vacuum-insulated to keep cold drinks cool and warm drinks hot - available in blue or white. Like their bracelets, each bottle purchased funds the removal of one pound of plastic from coastlines and rivers.

If bottles aren’t your style, try one of these innovative coffee cups from Circular & Co. The brilliant design of the lid is totally leak-proof, but allows you to drink from any side like a regular mug! Insulated for hot drinks, they are amazingly the first reusable coffee cup made from used paper cups!

If you’re looking for eco-friendly stationery, these fantastic notebooks from Clairefontaine are made from either recycled jeans or cocoa husks. Simple, stylish, and kind to the environment. Their jean paper block has become a staple of my desk layout!

Of course, I would be remiss not to mention our own Paper Tiger notebooks! The paper we use is recycled, the cover is eco-friendly recycled kraft board, and your notebook has been printed using vegetable inks. Our printer is located eight miles from our shops, and we offset the carbon footprint of our notebooks at our own Grove of Scottish Highland woodland. Whichever colour you choose, this notebook is green!

For beautiful notebooks and a good cause, take a look at our range of Vent for Change notebooks. Not only do they use sustainable and recycled materials, but 10% of Vent of Change’s turnover goes to education projects. Check out this eye-catching yellow recycled leather notebook!

For eco-friendly pens, look no further than the 2nd Life range from ONLINE. These pens are made from PET bottles and drinking cups. Available as a ballpoint pen, a rollerball, or a fountain pen. The perfect finishing touch to your desk!
