Paper Tiger loves the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Posted on 12 Aug 08:39
When else can you see a retelling of Marlowe's Dr Faustus full of improvisation and clowning, a two-hander about a pair of brothers just about as devoted to each other as they are to Hibs, navigating a past and present full of trauma and a show about Scotland's local witches trying to summon the spirit of Rabbie Burns through poetry and music all in one day?
As a local, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival can sometimes feel overwhelming, but there is a reason why people from all over descend upon our otherwise quiet and quaint city in the month of August; there just isn't anything else like it in the world.
Over the course of August there is truly countless different festivals happening concurrently and accessible to anyone who wishes to take advantage. From children's shows to musicals to erotic cabaret, there is truly something for everyone. You can spend an entire day exploring the streets taking in street performers and popping into any of the many Free Fringe shows. You can see the highest caliber of Broadway performers up close and personal like never before. You can see comedians have sold-out crowds at The Edinburgh Playhouse in utter hysterics.
The energy is kinetic. Anything is possible. When the entire world comes to Edinburgh, why would you want to be anywhere else?
