SHRIG SHOP at PAPER TIGER Posted on 6 Aug 18:17
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is in full swing, and while the streets are filled with performers and flyer-wielding students, something wonderfully strange has popped up in the heart of the city: David Shrigley’s Shrig Shop.
For those not in the know, David Shrigley is an artist celebrated for his distinctly peculiar, deadpan humour and deceptively simple drawings. His work is a masterclass in making you laugh and then immediately question why you're laughing. David Shrigley recently opened his own shop in Copenhagen as an extension of his artistic practice, producing all kinds of printed matter, merchandise and paraphernalia. It's an art form that feels perfectly at home in Edinburgh during the madness of the Festival.
Located in the beloved stationery haven, Paper Tiger on Stafford Street will dedicate an area of the store to David Shrigley’s whimsical Shrig Shop creations throughout the month of August. It's a treasure trove of the weird and wonderful, showcasing everything from his iconic prints and books to everyday objects infused with his signature absurdity. You might find a mug with a questionable life philosophy or a tea towel with a drawing that's just a little bit off.
