Traditional advent calendar Posted on 26 Sep 16:57

This Christmas Paper Tiger has a fabulous selection of advent calendars to choose from but what is a traditional advent calendar you might ask?

For us, it means a simple image behind every door style advent calendar. One that is not loaded with chocolate, animal snacks, toys or even beauty products. It is the simple pleasure of opening a small window every morning to be greeted by a new and uplifting image.

The first printed advent calendar originated in Germany in the early 20th century but the tradition can be traced back to the 19th century when families would mark every day in December until Christmas Eve with a simple chalk line.
