Leith is not in Edinburgh. Leith is Leith. Almost 1000 years of history separate the port that serves the city from the city that it serves - a boundary literally marked by a bar, and fiercely defended by Leith natives. As well as the extensive docks, Leith has been the home of industry and was the foremost location for many Scottish industries and companies from glass makers, soap makers, whisky distillers, and cordial makers, through to heavy industry such as ship building and lead working. All this activity and growth eventually meant that the Port Of Leith became a physical part of Edinburgh. Today, new creative industries thrive in the old industrial zones, with wharves and warehouses repurposed for 21st century use, and the vibrancy of the night time culture is well known - bars, venues and restaurants have sprung up throughout the area.
Our Leith Candle is scented with Lavender, Sweet Orange and Clary Sage, and takes inspiration from some of the more fragrant aspects of Leith - the open spaces of Leith Links the shoreline of the Forth. The Lavender is an instantly recognisable Scottish floral scent, acknowledged for it's soothing and calming properties. The Sweet Orange essential oils in the rind of the fruit - that burst of intense scent that occurs as you peel an orange gives our Leith candle a clean natural scent that is really refreshing and balances the Lavender beautifully. Finally, a drop of Clary Sage adds a little extra something to the overall scent - it's renowned for it's ability to create a sense of well being, but also act as an aphrodisiac!
